Subject: Building PC plugins

Has anybody had any *good* experience building PC-based LW plugins (32-bit
DLLs) with anything other than Microsoft Visual C++ 2.x? I've got Borland
C++ 4.02, but it doesn't build 32-bit DLLs that LightWave can digest.
I also have Microsoft Visual C++ 2.2, but I don't have an operating system
the run it under (i.e., Windows NT).
Is either DJGPP or EMX (GNU-based compilers) mature enough to accomplish
this task?
Any advice would be appreciated.
